ΝΕΑ ΥΟΡΚΗ. Ο θρυλικός τραπεζίτης, ο ευπατρίδης, ο ακαταμάχητος αγωνιστής, ο ευπατρίδης και φιλάνθρωπος Κρις Λαζαρίδης (Chris George Lazarides) δεν υπάρχει πια ανάμεσά μας. Την Τετάρτη, 8 Ιουλίου 2026, άφησε την τελευταία του πνοή σε ηλικία 92 ετών έχοντας στο πλευρό του την οικογένειά του.
Ο θάνατός του καταλείπει την σύζυγό του Αγγελική (Κική), τα παιδιά του Θεανώ και Μιχάλη Ιορδάνου (Theana and Michael Iordanou), Γιώργο και Ειρήνη Λαζαρίδη (George and Irene Lazarides), τα επτά εγγόνια, τα δέκα δισέγγονα και τους λοιπούς συγγενείς και φίλους εδώ και στην Κύπρο.
Οι συγγενείς και οι φίλοι το απόγευμα της Παρασκευής, 7ης Ιουλίου 2026, από τις 3.00 – 7.00 μ.μ. θα συγκεντρωθούν στο Γραφείο Τελετών «Antonopoulos Funeral Home Inc» στην διεύθυνση 38-08 Ditmars Blvd Astoria, NY 11105 για να προσκυνήσουν το σκήνωμά του και να εκφράσουν τα ειλικρινή και εγκάρδια συλλυπητήρια στην οικογένειά του.
Το πρωί της Δευτέρας, 13ης Ιουλίου 2026 και ώρα 9.30 π.μ. θα συγκεντρωθούν στον ιερό ναό της Μεταμορφώσεως του Σωτήρος στην διεύθυνση 1950 Breakwater Road Mattituck , N.Y., 11952 για να παρακολουθήσουν την Εξόδιο Ακολουθία.
Αμέσως μετά θα μεταβούν στο Κοιμητήριο «Cutchogue Cemetery» στην διεύθυνση30535 Main Road, Cutchogue, N.Y., 11935, για να παρακολουθήσουν την ταφή του και να του απευθύνουν το ύστατο χαίρε.
Η οικογένεια καλεί τους συγγενείς και φίλους όπως αντί ανθέων προσφέρουν δωρεά στη μνήμη του στον Παγκύπριο Σύνδεσμο Αμερικής είτε στην ελληνορθόδοξη κοινότητα της Μεταμορφώσεως του Σωτήρος στο Μάτιτακ.
Ο Παγκύπριος Σύνδεσμος Αμερικής στο άκουσμα του θανάτου του θρυλικού τραπεζίτη και συνάμα μέντορα της νεότερης γενιάς των τραπεζιτικών, του βετεράνου του αμερικανικού στρατού, του αξιολάτρευτου συζύγου, του στοργικού πατέρα, παππού και προπάππου Κρις Λαζαρίδη εξέδωσε συλλυπητήριο ψήφισμα.

Chris Lazarides (1935 – 2026)
The Pancyprian Association of America mourns the passing of a lifetime Board of Trustees member, Chris Lazarides.
A life journey from the Village of Lefkoniko Cyprus, the only child of George and Theano Lazarides, emigrated to New York, attended the prestigious Ivy League Columbia University and graduated with a Masters Degree in Banking, Finance and International Relations. Married in 1958 to the love of his life the legendary school teacher, Angeliki (Kiki) Lazarides, had two successful children, Theana Lazarides Iordanou and George Lazarides.
The extended family now includes seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Chris, a legendary banker, as Executive Vice President of Atlantic Bank, he revolutionized the banking industry by spearheading the opening of local community branches including the famous Atlantic Bank branch on Ditmars Boulevard in Astoria.
A man of vision with the highest standards for integrity, he became a mentor to countless young Greek Americans entering the banking world.
A proud American citizen who served in the National Guard, never forgot his roots always supporting and fighting for the struggle of the Cypriot people for Freedom and Justice.
One of the founders and Treasurer of the Cyprus Childrens Fund, worked with Eugene Rossides to establish the American Hellenic Institute and subsequently the American Cyprus Congress, he lived a wonderful and happy life based on Hellenic values and achieved the American dream.
Our deepest condolences to his beautiful wife Kiki and the extended family.
