ΝΕΑ ΥΟΡΚΗ. Πλούσια σε συγκινήσεις ήταν τα φετινά ονομαστήρια της κοινότητας του Αγίου Θωμά στο Τσέρι Χιλ της Νέας Ιερσέης, τα οποία έλαβαν χώρα το Σαββατοκύριακο, 18η και 19η Απριλίου 2026.
Κι αυτό διότι ο Μητροπολίτης Νέας Ιερσέης, κ. Απόστολος, προέστη και της εις διακόνου χειροτονίας του διακόνου Μιχαήλ Σαντίλου, κατά κόσμο Τσάρλη Σαντίλου, πρώην προέδρου της κοινότητας.
Οι εορταστικές εκδηλώσεις ξεκίνησαν το βράδυ του Σαββάτου με τον Αρχιερατικό Εσπερινό και ολοκληρώθηκαν την Κυριακή με την Θεία Λειτουργία και την χειροτονία προεξάρχοντος του Μητροπολίτη Νέας Ιερσέης, κ. Απόστολου και το επίσημο γεύμα το οποίο παρατέθηκε στην κοινοτική αίθουσα.
Κατά την διάρκεια της Θείας Λειτουργίας ο κ. Απόστολος απένειμε το οφφίκιο του Αρχιμανδρίτη στον π. Symeon Williams, που ηγείται της Διακονίας των Νέων της Μητροπόλεων της Νέας Ιερσέης.
Ο διάκονος Μιχαήλ θα υπηρετήσει στην κοινότητα του Αγίου Θωμά στο Τσέρι Χιλ στο πλευρό του ιερατικού προϊσταμένου, π. Γεωργίου Οικονόμου.

On April 19, 2026, His Eminence Metropolitan Apostolos of New Jersey celebrated the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy for the Sunday of Thomas at the church of St. Thomas in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Besides celebrating the community’s feast day, His Eminence presided over the ordination of Deacon Michael Sandilos, a longtime parishioner, steward and Archon of the community.
Proistamenos Fr. Georgios Oikonomou welcomed His Eminence to the church upon his arrival along with other metropolis clergy, parish council members and Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate who had come to celebrate the parish’s feast day and the ordination.
In his address to Deacon Michael as he approached the royal gates, His Eminence highlighted the significance of the feast and paschal period to his ordination.
Following the Resurrection Christ gave to his apostles the grace required to minister to His people saying, “peace be with you if you forgive the sins of the people the will be forgive.” In our hierarchical Church, this grace belongs now to the clergy, the bishops, priests and deacons. As a newly ordained deacon of the church His Eminence said, Dn. Michael now has the responsibility to support Fr. George in this ministry.
Following the Liturgy, His Eminence bestowed a the honor of the Office of Archimandrite to Metropolis Youth Director the V. Rev. Fr. Symeon Williams for his years of service in many different capacities to our Metropolis Youth. A celebratory reception was then held in the church hall in honor of His Eminence’s visit and Deacon Michael’s ordination.
