Παγκόσμια πρεμιέρα του Θρίλερ «The Spinnerets» στην Αστόρια (Also in English)

Το Ελληνικό Πολιτιστικό Κέντρο στην Αστορία συνεχίζει να παρουσιάζει συναρπαστικό σύγχρονο θέατρο με την παγκόσμια πρεμιέρα του “The Spinnerets”, που θα παρουσιαστεί στη σκηνή NEWTOWN, ανοίγοντας την Πέμπτη, 29 Ιανουαρίου και θα διαρκέσει μέχρι τις 8 Φεβρουαρίου 2026.

Μετά από μια σειρά sold-out παραστάσεων οι οποίες ανέβηκαν στην δεύτερη σκηνή του κέντρου, το Newton stage στο Ελληνικό Πολιτιστικό Κέντρο — συμπεριλαμβανομένων των «Hour of Darkness», σε σκηνοθεσία Samuel Adams και πρωταγωνίστρια την Katlyn Schirard, και το «I Want a Country», σε σκηνοθεσία Ιωάννας Κατσαρού με πρωτότυπη μουσική από τον μουσικό στο Μπροντγουέι Peter Douskalis— το Κέντρο ξεκινά τη νέα θεατρική χρονιά του με ένα νέο έργο του Douglas DuBrin, σε σκηνοθεσία Anthony Logan Cole, που παρουσιάζεται σε συνεργασία με τις «Painted Pistachio Productions» και την FAMA Theatre Group NY (ΘΕΣΠΙΣ Πολιτιστικό Κέντρο) του Αλεξάνδρου Αμμοχωστιανου.

Το “The Spinnerets” είναι ένα 90λεπτο δυστοπικό θρίλερ που ακολουθεί πέντε προβληματικούς χαρακτήρες, ξένους ανάμεσα τους, οι οποίοι αναγκάζονται να βρουν τρόπο να απεμπλακούν από ένα επικίνδυνο κοινωνικό πείραμα.

Μετά από την επιτυχή ανάγνωση/δοκιμή στο Ελληνικό Πολιτιστικό Κέντρο, η παράσταση επιστρέφει ως πλήρως ολοκληρωμένη παραγωγή, αντικατοπτρίζοντας τη συνεχιζόμενη δέσμευση του Κέντρου αλλά και του καλλιτεχνικού της διευθυντή Αλέξανδρου Αμμοχωστιανού στην καινοτόμο αφήγηση και στον πολιτιστικό προγραμματισμό που καθοδηγείται από την καινοτομία και την εξωστρέφεια.

Η παράσταση περιλαμβάνει τους ηθοποιούς Alison Zhang (Candy), Riley Fay (Calvin), Caydence Aug (Sandy), Tommie Q Dinh (Brandy) και Edoardo Miranda (Tug). Η Alison Zhang συμμετέχει επίσης ως συν-παραγωγός.

Οι παραστάσεις θα πραγματοποιούνται κάθε Πέμπτη, Παρασκευή και Σάββατο στις 7:00 μ.μ., με απογευματινές παραστάσεις την Κυριακή στις 2:00 μ.μ., στη σκηνή Newtown, στο Ελληνικό Πολιτιστικό Κέντρο, Αστορία (25-02 Newtown Ave, Astoria, NY 11102).

Με το “The Spinnerets”, το Ελληνικό Πολιτιστικό Κέντρο συνεχίζει να ενισχύει τον ρόλο του ως ένας ζωτικής σημασίας πολιτιστικός κόμβος στο Queens αλλά και στην αυτοτελή Νέα Υόρκη, φέρνοντας πρωτότυπο θέατρο και παγκόσμιες πρεμιέρες στο τοπικό κοινό.

World Premiere of the Thriller “The Spinnerets” at the Hellenic Cultural Center

The Hellenic Cultural Center in Astoria continues to present captivating contemporary theater with the world premiere of “The Spinnerets,” which will take place at the NEWTOWN stage, opening on Thursday, January 29, and running through February 8, 2026.

Following a series of sold-out performances held at the center’s second stage, the Newton stage at the Hellenic Cultural Center —including “Hour of Darkness,” directed by Samuel Adams and starring Katlyn Schirard, and “I Want a Country,” directed by Ioanna Katsarou with original music by Broadway composer Peter Douskalis— the Center kicks off its new theater season with a new work by Douglas DuBrin, directed by Anthony Logan Cole, presented in collaboration with Painted Pistachio Productions and the FAMA Theater Group NY (THESPIS Cultural Center).

“The Spinnerets” is a 90-minute dystopian thriller that follows five troubled characters, all strangers to each other, who are forced to find a way to escape from a dangerous social experiment. After a successful reading at the Hellenic Cultural Center, the play returns as a fully realized production, reflecting the Center’s continued commitment, as well as that of its artistic director Alexandros Ammohostianos, to innovative storytelling and culturally-driven programming that emphasizes innovation and outreach.

The cast features Alison Zhang (Candy), Riley Fay (Calvin), Caydence Aug (Sandy), Tommie Q Dinh (Brandy), and Edoardo Miranda (Tug). Alison Zhang also serves as co-producer.

Performances will take place every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:00 PM, with Sunday matinees at 2:00 PM, at the Newtown stage at the Hellenic Cultural Center, Astoria (25-02 Newtown Ave, Astoria, NY 11102).

With “The Spinnerets,” the Hellenic Cultural Center continues to strengthen its role as a vital cultural hub in Queens, as well as in greater New York, bringing original theater and world premieres to local audiences.
