1. B”H As an admirer, indeed a friend of fellow Volioti Prof. Nicholas Alexiou, I have encouraged the ongoing work of the Hellenic archive he heads at CUNY’s Queens College. The contributions of our compatriots to grow, and qualitatively enhance our American liberal democracy are now regularly catalogued in this institution. However, as I early sounded the alarm, the neglect through indifference and silence in Greek-American media to cover Greek-Jewry must not be repeated by an academic enterprise. In fact, such oversight must rankle any objective observer; it’s doubly painful to detect such omission from a colleague who, repeatedly, voiced his intention to me that he will step into the obvious void and fill it post haste!
   As I sit with my wife, Anna (she preparing an afternoon cappuccino, for the Turkish brew is reserved upon waking in the morning), explaining the contents of this message, she supportively exclaims: “what are we (Greek-Jews), chopped liver?” If anyone misses her meaning, I shall be happy to provide the phrase’s Ashkenazic origin; for such Jews exist in Greece, too! Don’t want to play the same discordant tune, but Greek-American scholarship must rise to this occasion; along, with exposing the abject moral weakness of a Greek government refusing to recant, and apologize (to Israel, and world Jewry), for being the only European-Christian country to vote against the birth of a Jewish State in the UNGA, 11/29/1947 (74 years and counting). Further, decent Greeks must at long last understand the slander their Orthodox Church hierarchy continues to perpetrate via its anachronistic dogma that Jews are to blame for the crucifixion! Men and women of letters must demonstrate their philotimo, besa, honor, even as they enthusiastically embrace their Jewish brethren with a winning illustration of often illusory Christian love!
