ΝΕΑ ΥΟΡΚΗ. Ο νεοσύστατος μη κερδοσκοπικός οργανισμός «Birthright Hellas» καλεί τους Ελληνοαμερικανούς ηλικίας 18 έως 25 ετών να εγγραφούν για να παρακολουθήσουν το 10ήμερο Πρόγραμμα Ελληνικής Κουλτούρας και Πολιτισμού (Greek Culture and Civilization) που θα λάβει χώρα το τελευταίο δεκαήμερο του Ιουλίου 2024 στην Θεσσαλονίκη.
Το πρόγραμμα διοργανώνεται σε συνεργασία με την Γενική Γραμματεία Αποδήμου Ελληνισμού και Δημόσιας Διπλωματίας του Υπουργείου Εξωτερικών, θα λάβει χώρα από τις 20 έως και τις 30 Ιουλίου 2024 και προσφέρει μια μοναδική ευκαιρία σε σαράντα (40) έφηβους και νέους να επισκφθούν την γενέτειρα των προγόνων τους να αγγίξουν τον ελληνικό πολιτισμό και να εξοικειωθούν με τον ελληνικό τρόπο ζωής και γενικότερα την ελληνική κουλτούρα.
Το εν λόγω πρόγραμμα είναι το δεύτερο που διοργανώνει φέτος ο νεοσύστατος οργανισμός. Το πρώτο πρόγραμμα, όπως έγραψαν οι “Αναμνήσεις” προσφέρεται σε 25 (είκοσι πέντε) παιδιά Ελληνοαμερικανών ηλικίας 18 έως και 28 ετών προκειμένου να μεταβούν στον Μυστρά Λακωνίας και να παρακολουθήσουν το 15ημερο θερινό σχολείο. Το σχολείο διοργανώνεται από τον εν λόγω οργανισμό σε συνεργασία με το Ελληνικό Ανοικτό Πανεπιστήμιο, τελεί υπό την αιγίδα της Γραμματείας Απόδημου Ελληνισμού και Δημόσιας Διπλωματίας του Υπουργείου Εξωτερικών και θα λάβει χώρα από τις 25 Ιουλίου μέχρι και τις 7 Αυγούστου 2024.
Η ανταπόκριση για το θερινό σχολείο ξεπέρασε κάθε προσδοκία και καλύφθηκαν ήδη και οι 25 θέσεις.
Το ενδιαφέρον για το δεκαήμερο “Πρόγραμμα Ελληνικής Κουλτούρας και Πολιτισμού” κέντρισε το ενδιαφέρον των εφήβων και των νέων και οι ηγέτες του νεοσύστατου οργανισμού πιστεύουν ότι θα καλυφθούν και οι σαράντα θέσεις.
Όπως το θερινό σχολείο έτσι και το δεκαήμερο εκπαιδευτικό – πολιτιστικό πρόγραμμα προσφέρονται δωρεάν, ενώ οι οικογένειες των υποψηφίων θα επιβαρυνθούν μόνο τα αεροπορικά εισιτήρια.

The Program
The Birthright Hellas Committee of the Hellenic Cultural Center of the Southwest, in collaboration with the General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece, announces forty (40) positions for a summer program on “Greek Culture and Civilization” to be held in Northern Greece from Saturday, July 20th to Tuesday, July 30th, 2024. The program is open to applicants from the USA (US citizens).
Location
This summer program will be based in Thessaloniki, Greece. Participants will be accommodated at the El Greco Hotel (https://www.hotelelgreco.gr/gr). Additionally, accommodation in Nymfaio, Florina will take place in local guesthouses, all of high standard and within walking distance of each other (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nymfaio).

Accommodation, Meals, and Transportation
Accommodation will be offered for free in double rooms for all nights, including breakfast and two meals per day (Full Board). The program will cover transportation to the sites of excursions and guided tours, as well as entrance fees (where applicable).
Note: The program will NOT cover transportation from the applicants’ home to Thessaloniki and return.
Application and Selection
Participants in the summer program must:
- Be US Citizens between 18-28 years old (US Passport picture required) (must be 18 years old by the application)
- Have a Greek ancestral background (1st, 2nd, or 3rd generation or more Greek ancestors)
The results of the selections will be announced at the end of May 2024.
Criteria for selection:
- Affiliation with any of the listed organizations will be considered an advantage.

Important: By applying to this program, each individual confirms that they are responsible for their own health insurance coverage. Participants are encouraged to purchase traveler’s insurance from any of the various companies available in the USA. Additionally, participants agree that the Hellenic Cultural Center of the Southwest, its officers, directors, and Committees shall not be held accountable for any damages, losses, or injuries incurred during the program.
